Vava'u Accommodation

Location of Vava'u Islands in Tonga If you are planning on going on day trips such as island tours, fishing, diving or whalewatching and just need a base at Neiafu, then a self-catering apartment such as is offered by The Island Explorer could be an affordable and convenient option. Their budget accommodation is within walking distance to Neiafu, with shopping, banks, post office, souvenirs, tour operators, cafes, bars and restaurants.

In addition to the activities mentioned, a visit to the produce market is always interesting and offers the opportunity of buying locally grown fruits and vegetables. Hike to the top of Mount Talau (an energetic but not difficult climb) and view Neiafu and the islands. The views are spectacular. There are also other lookouts around the main island - not all are sign-posted, so going on a guided trip may be preferable to hiring a vehicle or scooter and going it alone.

Neiafu is a quiet town with a main street that follows the harbour coastline. Views of the yachts moored offshore make for picturesque vistas.
